What the Silence Has Cost Me
Silence has never cost me clarity.
It has cost me comfort.
That surprised me.
I assumed the hardest part of leadership silence would be not knowing what to do next. In reality, the cost was far more personal. Silence stripped away the things I used to lean on to feel justified, confident, and secure.
It removed momentum.
It removed affirmation.
It removed the ability to explain myself cleanly.
What remained was responsibility without reassurance.
January has been about learning to lead there.
If you’ve felt the weight of silence this month, this reflection is where I say the parts I won’t say publicly. Not because they are dramatic, but because they require trust.
